2026 Outstanding Alumna Award

Diana Dedmon, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, AFN-C joined the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Nursing faculty in 2019. She currently serves as an Associate Professor, Director of Clinical Affairs, and holds the Michael Carter Endowed Professorship.
Dr. Dedmon is a two-time graduate of UT Health Science Center, earning her Master of Science in Nursing in 1999 and a Graduate Certificate in Forensic Nursing in 2023. She earned her
Dr. Dedmon has practiced as a Family Nurse Practitioner since 1999, providing primary care services in rural West Tennessee. Her research and scholarly work focus on the development of nurse-led clinics designed to reduce health disparities and improve wellness outcomes for rural and underserved populations.
She currently serves as Principal Investigator on a $3.9 million, four-year Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant and a $3.6 million, three-year Tennessee Department of Health grant. Together, these initiatives enable the College of Nursing to deliver healthcare services to five rural counties through two mobile health units while integrating rural health education into undergraduate and graduate nursing curricula.
Dr. Dedmon is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, American Association of Colleges of Nursing, National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties, Mobile Health Association, Rural Health Association of Tennessee, and the National Rural Health Association.
