Rick Sain, Pharm.D., a Murfreesboro‑based pharmacist, business leader, and longtime co‑owner of Reeves‑Sain Drug Store, is widely recognized throughout the pharmacy industry for his ability to blend traditional pharmacy values with exceptional service and cutting‑edge pharmaceutical technology. Over the course of 36 years, he has built a reputation—and a business—rooted in innovation, integrity, and a deep commitment to compassionate, patient‑centered care.
Rick grew up on a farm in Bell Buckle, Tennessee, and attended Shelbyville Central High School before studying at Middle Tennessee State University. He went on to earn his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy in Memphis in 1989. Shortly after graduation, he joined Reeves‑Powell Drug Store, and in 1994 he partnered with Shane Reeves to become co‑owner of what would evolve into Reeves‑Sain, a respected and influential name in community pharmacy.
Rick and his wife, Amy, have made Murfreesboro their home since 1990. They have two sons: Alec, a 2019 graduate of the UTHSC College of Pharmacy, and Ky, who is 24.
Throughout his career, Rick has been honored with numerous awards, including the 2011 Rutherford County Business Person of the Year, the Tennessee Distinguished Young Pharmacist of the Year, and Rutherford County Pharmacist of the Year. His leadership extends well beyond his business: he is a past president of the Tennessee Pharmacists Association, the Murfreesboro Breakfast Rotary Club, and the UT College of Pharmacy Alumni Association. He continues to serve the community as a board member for both the Community Foundation of Rutherford County and the Discovery Center.
