Chip Trammell, DDS ’12

Dr. Chip Trammell was raised in Greenville, Mississippi. He completed his undergraduate education at Ole Miss before earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Dentistry in 2012. He went on to finish his orthodontic residency at UTHSC’s Department of Orthodontics in 2015.

That same year, Dr. Trammell joined FMY Orthodontics in Jackson, Tennessee, a practice with five locations across West Tennessee. He is a Board-Certified Orthodontist and an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and the Southern Society of Orthodontists. He is a member of the Schulman Study Group and serves as President of the Jackson Dental Study Club. Since 2018, he has been a member of the UTHSC College of Dentistry Alumni Board of Trustees, and he served as chair of the William F. Slagle Dental Meeting from 2019 to 2023. He currently represents West Tennessee for the Tennessee Association of Orthodontists.

In 2021, Dr. Trammell joined the faculty of the UTHSC College of Dentistry’s Department of Orthodontics as an Associate Professor. He is passionate about teaching clinical orthodontics and values the opportunity to work closely with residents, patients, and colleagues.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Trammell enjoys spending time outdoors with his family and friends. His wife, Dr. Lauren Trammell—also a dentist and a 2011 UTHSC College of Dentistry graduate— shares his commitment to the profession. Together, they have three children: Aven, Tucker, and Thomas.
